Up and coming designers at the Malcha Mall

As any aspiring designer will tell you, the fashion business isn't the easiest to break into with its fierce competition and established names. But the Malcha Mall is giving young designers a leg up this week when it hosts the "Young Designers" Fair from July 6th – 8th. The fair will feature the work – mainly accessories including jewelry, handbags, belts and headbands - of a number of Israel's up and coming young fashionistas. The designers, who were chosen from a large number of applicants based on the quality and timeliness of their work, will be on hand to display their wares and ply their trade.

Many of those exhibiting at the fair are recent graduates of Israel's top design and art schools, so the fair should be an interesting preview of where the Israeli design scene is headed – are there new Michal Negrin's in the making or is Israeli jewelry design headed in an entirely new direction? It's heaven for trend-watchers. And bargain hunters as well, as Malcha is cutting out the middle man and letting you buy your cutting-edge accessories straight from the designer.

While Jerusalemites can find the work of Israeli designers at some of the more avant garde stores on Bezalel Street in downtown Jerusalem, the Malcha event is a unique opportunity to meet the designers as well – sort of like fashion week in New York City.

The fair will run each day from 11:00 to 20:00 and is free of charge, though we're sure the Malcha Mall wouldn't mind if you decided to accessorize the accessories with a few choice numbers from their established stores.
