Jerusalem is largely a city of stone, whether in its historic heart or its far-flung suburbs, but venture to any of the patches of green land scattered around the city and you'll see hundreds of Jerusalemites hard at work at having a good time outdoors, whether kicking around a football, practicing to be the next Omri Casspi, or rolling from place to place atop skateboards and bicycles. We're even gearing up to host yet another half marathon in March.
Independence Park downtown and especially Sacher Park further west, with its basketball and tennis facilities, large green and multi-kilometer walk-jog-bike trail, are the classic settings for sport Jerusalem-style, but off the grass, you'll find skateboarders tearing up Horse Park on King George Street and streetball tournaments all around the city - including a yearly tournament at Safra Square.
