Falafel Adir

Falafel Adir

Falafel seems almost out of place on relentlessly trendy Emek Refaim Street. True, falafel may be essentially the national food of Israel, able to unite immigrants and natives, Ashkenazim and Mizrachim, Arabs and Jews for the five minutes it takes to eat it, but there doesn't seem to be much room between the hip and expensive restaurants and cafes of Emek for humble deep-fried chickpea balls.

But yet, there's Falafel Adir, reliably churning out just that, surrounded and unimpressed by its more cosmopolitan competition.

In addition to the chickpea-related main event and its requisite host of accompanying salads in your choice of pita or laffa (large Iraqi flatbread), Falafel Adir serves shwarma, rumored to be the best in the German Colony (not that there's too much competition), and other Israeli soul food, including shakshuka, a highly-recommended North African stew of tomatoes, peppers, garlic and eggs, the ultimate Israeli breakfast food.
