Jerusalem.com Mourns the loss of Igal Lichtman
On February 18th 2013, Igal Lichtman, founder and visionary of Jerusalem.com, passed away after a long and difficult battle with cancer. He was laid to rest in a beautiful cemetery on the hill tops of Jerusalem surrounded by a peaceful forest, as he requested. His loving wife Michal and their six children said their final goodbyes, supported by the many people who came to pay their respects to a truly brilliant, passionate and unique man.
Igal was a brilliant entrepreneur who always saw an opportunity where others did not. His spirit and light were so strong that one could not remain passive in face of it. His passion and wisdom could even be felt over the phone as he would draw extraordinary ideas and perspectives. His ingenuity inspired all who met him. Igal was known for his ‘tough love’ approach, molded by years of creation and achievements, often under great hardship. It was this love that drove others forward, challenged them and enhanced them.
Igal founded Jerusalem.com together with his wife Michal a little over a year ago, with the belief that an internet domain such as Jerusalem.com can be used to further education and understanding between people. He spared no expense in making this enterprise come to be and always held that the potential of Jerusalem.com holds far greater importance than any monetary consideration.
Over the years, Igal and his wife Michal, built several companies such as ‘Quigo’ and ‘Magic Solutions’ which was among the INC 500's fastest growing companies in the United States. In 1996, he was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for New Jersey in the Software category. Igal was an incredible inventor and business man but never lost sight of what he said is most important in life - being a devoted husband and caring father.
Despite the difficulty of the disease and treatments, Igal gave his heart and soul to Jerusalem.com even during his last moments. He believed that by thinking differently, we can introduce something of real value to the world - bringing Jerusalem, a city close to the hearts of millions, to all who wish to ‘feel’ it through the use of technology.
His legacy and dream live-on and gain force with Michal and the Jerusalem.com team. Igal’s passing has left a gap that cannot be filled. His genius, creativity and force were a rare light.
We at Jerusalem.com will miss you greatly Igal. You have been our inspiration and strength and your support and teachings will continue with each and every one of us. We are thankful to have met a true visionary and thankful for the amazing opportunities you have given us all.
As we continue forward with Michal, to realize your joint dream, we will remember and feel you always. We hope to make you proud and follow in your footsteps.
We thank you and miss you,
The Jerusalem.com Team
